Tollgate Gardens

With a primary focus on improving tenant well-being, Westminster Council engaged with Comfort Frame to deliver significant thermal upgrades to an 8th floor apartment of an existing 1960’s-built development.

Challenges faced


Principal consideration to deliver this project successfully was to meticulously plan and manufacture a modular solution that would not disrupt the tenants day to day activities as they would remain within the property whilst the installation took place.

Solution provided


Having recognised the need to future proof the property, our Safeguard System was chosen as the only Fabric First solution capable of providing a higher performing, warmer and healthier living space to meet energy efficiency and government compliant measures.

Implementation process


With customer journey at the forefront of our planning, we carried out a point cloud survey to create the exact dimensional requirements of the affected elevations. These measurements were then designed and manufactured within a matter of weeks to meet a tight delivery timeframe.

Manufactured as a quicker to install, slimmer, stronger and more adaptable method of Internal Wall Insulation, our unique modularised System enabled 32m2 (7 elevations) to be completed in just 5 days, including decorating, whilst the tenants remained in situ.

Results achieved


Enhanced thermally efficient upgrade to a 1960’s Tower Block for a new client, delivered whilst the tenants (a mother with young children) remained in-situ.

Fast Installation


In strict accordance with the scope of works, the installation was completed in just 5 days without the need for any return visits.

Minimal Disruption


Our fully customisable solution meant bespoke panels were manufactured to suit the dimensional requirements of the property. With just 1.5m of workspace required, our system was installed without causing any undue disruption to the tenants.

Thermal Transmittance


By improving the U-value of the wall build up to 0.38 W/m2 post installation, we were able to address the heat loss resulting in a monthly saving on heating bills.
