Aster Group
Aster Group, a leading Housing Association, sought to transform an off-grid property in collaboration with British Gas (PH Jones). The aim was to explore the benefits of integrating energy efficient solutions, including an Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP), Internal Wall Insulation, and radiant heater panels. The intended outcome was to improve energy efficiency and to enhance the living conditions of the property’s occupants.
Challenges faced
Before engaging with us, Aster Group faced significant challenges typical of off-grid properties -specifically high energy costs and inadequate heating solutions – which was causing discomfort for the residents. As a result, there was a pressing need to reduce the property’s carbon footprint by addressing the key issues of heat loss and poor insulation.
Solution provided
Our joint venture with British Gas (PH Jones) provided a comprehensive solution to Aster Group’s challenges. We implemented an integrated system comprising an ASHP, Internal Wall Insulation, and a combination of traditional radiators and innovative Thermguard radiant panels. This approach ensured efficient heating distribution while minimising energy consumption and heat loss. The ASHP, coupled with three ThermGuard panels installed inside the lounge, offered a modern and effective alternative to traditional heating methods, significantly improving the property’s energy efficiency and comfort levels.
Implementation process
The implementation process involved meticulous planning and collaboration between Aster Group, British Gas, and our team. The ASHP and Daikin water tank, supplied and installed by British Gas, were seamlessly integrated into the property’s infrastructure. Additionally, the installation of Internal Wall Insulation to the external walls of the staircase, insulated ceilings and Thermguard panels in the lounge was carried out with precision to optimise thermal performance. Our expertise in energy efficient solutions ensured a smooth and well-organised implementation process, minimising disruption to the occupants.
We have an ambition to get all of our properties performing to EPC C whilst also supporting the government target to reach Net Zero for 2050.
